Federal and provincial authorities have launched multiple investigations following a tragic workplace accident at Montréal-Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport that claimed the life of a 39-year-old ground crew worker.

The incident occurred at approximately 7:30 p.m. on Monday, August 24, during a pushback operation. According to local authorities and union representatives, Oscar Robayo, a ramp agent employed by ground handling company Samsic, was struck by a French bee Airbus A350 as the aircraft prepared to depart for Paris.

Emergency services responded immediately, and Robayo was rushed to a hospital with critical injuries, where he later succumbed to his wounds.

Aéroports de Montréal (ADM), the airport authority, released a statement expressing profound grief over the tragedy. "The loss of a member of our airport community affects us all deeply," said ADM head Yves Beauchamp, extending condolences to the victim's family, friends, and colleagues.

French bee confirmed that its aircraft and a pushback vehicle were involved in the ground operations accident, stating that the airline is fully cooperating with investigators.
